Seed Cycling as a Tool for Taming Your Time of Month

This one's FOR THE GIRLS!!

Your hormones are your body’s chemical messengers, and they play an INTEGRAL role in your overall health, controlling many of the body’s major processes and functions, including metabolism and reproduction. Therefore, it is no wonder that the idea of HORMONE BALANCING is growing in popularity as it becomes less taboo to talk about, and address, the complexity of the female body and its unique, intricate processes.

When your body produces too much or too little of a certain hormone, the hormones become out of whack and impaired, leaving your body in a state of HORMONE IMBALANCE and unable to carry out their necessary function. Even tiny, minuscule changes in hormone levels can have serious effects throughout the body, with hormonal causes and conditions affecting both males and females.

TYPICAL CAUSES OF HORMONE IMBALANCE:

+ hormone therapy

+ medications and antibiotics

+ cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy

+ tumors, whether cancerous or benign

+ pituitary tumors

+ eating disorders

+ stress

+ injury or trauma

+ diet

+ diabetes, type 1 and type 2

+ hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism

CAUSES SPECIFIC TO FEMALES:

+ menopause or primary ovarian insufficiency, also known as premature menopause

+ pregnancy

+ breastfeeding

+ polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS

+ hormone drugs, such as birth control pills

SYMPTOMS SPECIFIC TO FEMALES:

+ heavy or irregular periods, frequent periods, missed periods, or absence of periods

+ excessive hair on face, chin, or other parts of the body

+ acne on the face, chest or upper back

+ hair loss

+ darkening of the skin, especially along the neck, genitalia, or under the breasts

+ skin tags

+ vaginal dryness and/or atrophy

+ pain during sex

+ night sweats

+ headaches

Along with hormone balance in females is the concept of SEED CYCLING, a trending topic in and of itself, and a truly accessible, easy-to-use technique.

SEED CYCLING is a tool for females that works to balance hormones, boost fertility, ease PMS and menopause symptoms, regulate irregular cycles, and improve endometriosis and PCOS. Furthermore, it works to improve thyroid hormone levels, hair health, weight loss, cellulite, and water retention. This practice involves eating particular types of seeds at different times of the month to balance specific hormones.

For menopausal and postmenopausal women without a menstrual cycle, it is recommended to use the phases on the moon as a guide to cycle dates, with day one of their “cycle” falling on the new moon.

HOW IT WORKS:

FOLLICULAR PHASE (DAYS 1-13) = ESTROGEN BOOST (Menstruation to Ovulation or New Moon to Full Moon)

+ FLAXSEED (1 tbsp daily)

+ PUMPKIN SEEDS (1 tbsp daily)

LUTEAL PHASE (DAYS 14-28)= PROGESTERONE BOOST (Ovulation to Menstruation or Full Moon to New Moon)

+ SUNFLOWER SEEDS (1tbsp daily)

+ SESAME SEEDS (1 tbsp daily)

Like with any change, it often takes a bit of time before seeing results, therefore, it is best to stick with it and try it for a few months. TUNE IN to your body, NOTICE any symptoms that arise, OBSERVE the positive changes that emerge, both inside and outside the body, LISTEN to what it is trying to communicate, and take the time to RESPOND in an appropriate, mindful and caring way.

The tools are out there for you, its up to YOU to try them out and determine what ones are a a good fit for YOU. Keep what resonates with you and your lifestyle, and LET GO of what doesn’t.
