Take Authority Over Your Life with AFFIRMATIONS

There are often two types of people when it comes to affirmations: those who believe in their power and practice them daily, and those who dismiss the idea and think they don’t work.
There are many arguments against affirmations due the ideas of cognitive dissonance and self-talk contradictions. Cognitive dissonance is the notion that there is conflict between what you affirm and what you already believe. Self-talk contradictions, on the other hand, occur when you affirm something, but do so while, at the same time, thinking and having an internal dialogue that is telling you “that can’t happen for me.” The main problem with both of these concepts is that they are more about positive thinking than affirmations. When it comes down to it, many people simply don’t understand the difference between positive thinking, which has its place, don’t get me wrong, and affirmations.
Positive thinking is a useful tool for redirecting negative thoughts, and it is beneficial when concentrating on a life goal or desire that you have. Oftentimes, though, positive thinking is simply glossing over the truth or covering up the mountain of negative thoughts that run through our heads every single day. You can think positive thoughts all day long, but without the KEY component affirmations provide, when done right, you will never impact your ability to manifest success or failure in your life.
Affirmations are so much more than positive thinking. Both are SYSTEMS that help increase and direct your focus, however, affirmations actually BOOST your vibrational frequency and have the ability to REWIRE your brain, over time, to do things differently. The fundamental distinction between the two is that positive thinking only reaches the CONSCIOUS mind, the realm of EFFECT, whereas affirmations reach the SUBCONSCIOUS mind, the realm of CAUSE.
The conscious mind has the ability to CHOOSE what it accepts or rejects, but the subconscious mind does not have such choice; it totally and completely ACCEPTS what you FEEL and BELIEVE to be true. This is why we must turn to the subconscious mind if we want to transform our lives and maintain this transformation long-term. Through affirmations we can affect the subconscious and persuade it to actually CHANGE your biology from reliving your past to living in your FUTURE.
By nature, affirmations carry an energetic component, just as feelings like fear, anger, sadness, joy, excitement and gratitude do. Your thoughts and feelings hold energy, and there is an INVISIBLE connection between what you feel and what you experience. Feeling is really the only medium where thoughts and ideas can be conveyed to the subconscious mind. Whether they are in your best interest or not, what you FEEL to be true sets your subconscious mind on the path of transforming them into existence.
We don’t always get what we want, we get WHO we are. We experience our INNER world of feelings, beliefs and ideas, not the things we want to have or be, externally. We simply cannot think greater than we can feel. Affirmations signal NEW FEELINGS, not new thoughts, to your brain, and then begin the process of rewiring it into an infinitely better design.
It is through the technique and practice of affirmations that your EMOTIONALIZED thoughts have the power to effect matter, influence the subconscious mind, and CREATE your reality. When we affirm something we are not affirming the desired RESULT, we are affirming the FEELING that that result will bring us, because THAT is what we truly desire, and, on a subconscious level, are chasing after.
How to use affirmations EFFECTIVELY:
01. decide WHAT it is you want, and be specific (whether it is something in the physical world, a change of attitude, or simply a new way of being).
02. imagine how you would FEEL if you actually had that or became the person you desired to be right now.
03. LABEL that feeling (decide what feeling would describe your experience).
04. whatever that feeling may be, CONNECT it to an affirmation (“I am ________”).
05. put them together MENTALLY, as though you are in a movie, or living your ideal life, and watching it play out.
06. mentally, and/or physically, SPEAK your affirmation, connect it to the picture in your mind, and FEEL what it feels like.
Two additional things that influence the subconscious, and, therefore, play a role in affirmations, are SLEEP and SMILING.
Sleep is the natural state of the subconscious. Whatever feelings you fall asleep with, the subconscious proceeds to turn them into matching experiences in your waking world. Therefore it is best to fall asleep feeling gratitude, success, or simply feeling blessed. Smiling, moreover, is a signal to your subconscious, and your body, that this is true, this is real. Therefore, smiling as you practice your affirmations connects the feeling, and thus the belief, to your heart and your inner wisdom and guidance.
Keep in mind, regardless of what it is that you desire from life, your feelings are valid and your energy is sacred. You are worthy, you are deserving, there is abundance and what is for you, is FOR YOU.
